I stinking love those costumes. Amelia makes a great Elsa but and even better Zombie Princess! Sebastian is perfect, too. That mustache is amazing. We didn’t get a chance to do any Halloween fun this year what with Brendan working in the morning and me closing the bakery round 10pm… not much we could do about taking him out and about. Hopefully he won’t remember such a boring Halloween…. :/
These next two days are gonna be spent cleaning/packing because, as you must already know, I have a tendency to forget things while packing for a vacation. I cannot believe that I’ll be seeing y’all again after all these months! It’s a lot harder being so far away. When I first left the nest I was still in the same state and had been that way ever since this spring. Just another adventure of mine but I do miss you guys a lot.
This’ll be a short post but I realized that I’ve never really shared with you what I do all week in the bakery. There’s a lot of boring stuff that goes on like cleaning and closing up the department but between all that there’s cupcakes and orders and flowers and sometimes even aliens. Closing shifts are always a drag but I do get to do some fun things at work.
Also brace yourself because all of these are shots from my phone. There’s a strange soap opera look to them because Otto decided to chew the rear facing camera one day (about a year ago). I call it my “Otto Filter”. I think I’m going to buy a disposable camera and just take pictures at work that way instead of busting out my phone all the time though. For one we’re not supposed to use our phones in any way while we’re on the clock but also I think a disposable would be great so I can build up my portfolio. Enjoy these!
The “infamous” (on Instagram) burger cupcakes I made basically all summer.
This is a generic bird cookie that I turned into an alien abduction. I only did a few of these because it’s technically not “Wegmans Approved”.
Sometimes the buttercream does fun stuff!
Some super fun Sesame Street cupcakes. My favorite characters, too. Cookie Monster and Oscar the Grouch.
This is one of the earlier cake orders I did. Still practicing my “icing-manship”
These babies are so delicious fresh out of the oven. It’s called a fruit strip and it’s puff pastry with a smear of almond past and topped with fruit (in this case apples and peaches). They are also covered in a glaze and sprinkled with almonds and powdered sugar after baking. Amazing….
Well that’s about it for today and I’ll see you soon!
